Airside is sold through Paddle.com Market Ltd as merchant of record. For the purchase itself, the payment, the billing address, the tax calculation and the invoice, Paddle is the data controller and its privacy policy applies.
For your licence, your activations and anything you send us, the controller is Melikber Güngör, who runs Airside as a sole proprietorship registered in Istanbul, Türkiye, under the trade name MELİKBER GÜNGÖR YAZILIM. Our full details are on the imprint, and the address to write to is below.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your e-mail address | It is your identity here. There are no passwords: signing in sends a six-digit code to this address |
| The Paddle customer and transaction references, the amount, the currency, the product, and the record Paddle sends us of the sale | To match a payment to a licence and to answer a payment dispute. Depending on Paddle, that record may include your billing country and the name on the order |
| Your licence key and edition | The licence you bought |
| A device identifier for each activated computer, derived on your own computer from its hardware. The underlying values are not sent to us | So a licence runs on your computers rather than on everyone's |
| The name Windows gives that computer | To tell two activations apart in support |
| Activation, download and licence-check times, and the network address each request came from | Support, and detecting one licence in use on many computers |
| A record of each session in Airside: when it was open, the version, the airport and a few figures about how it was used | To keep Airside working well, and to answer support questions |
| The text of voice transmissions the crews did not understand, with what went wrong, unless you ask us not to keep them | To make the crews understand more |
| Sign-in codes, stored hashed, with the network address that requested them | To check a code without holding it, and to limit how many can be requested |
| Whether you have stopped update e-mails, and when | So they stop when you say |
| Your rating of the free demo and anything you wrote with it, if you send one | To learn what to improve |
| Actions taken in our support console | To establish what happened to an account and when |
We process this data to perform the contract with you; for the licence check and the detection of abuse, on our legitimate interest in protecting the licence; and for the session records and the transmissions the crews did not understand, on our legitimate interest in keeping Airside working well. You can stop the second at any time by writing to us.
If something goes wrong you can send us a problem report, from Airside's settings or from its launcher. You describe what happened, and Airside sends your description together with its fault log, its setup log, the recording of your last session, the layout of that session's airport as the simulator supplied it, and your Airside settings. The setup log holds the e-mail address you signed in with. Nothing is sent unless you press Send report, and a report can only be sent from a computer with an active licence. We also record the file name, size, checksum, source address, which part of Airside sent it and its version, and the result of the virus scan every upload is put through.
When a report arrives, our support inbox is sent an e-mail with your e-mail address, your licence key and what you wrote, so we can answer you. The files are not attached to it: they stay on our own server. Reports are deleted after 60 days and are used only to answer the problem reported.
If you send us screenshots or a video link from your account to be featured, we keep them with the name and link you asked us to credit and what you wrote about them. Nothing is shown until we choose to feature it; then it appears with your credit on our site, and may appear in our posts, on our store pages and on our social accounts. You can withdraw a shot from your account at any time, and it is deleted.
When your free hour ends, or if you close Airside before it does, Airside asks what you thought: a number of stars and, if you like, a few words. Nothing is sent unless you press Send. If you do, we keep it with your licence to learn what to improve.
We e-mail account holders when there is big news about Airside. Every one of them has a link at the foot that stops them, and you can also turn them off, or back on, in your account's settings.
Airside verifies your licence with our server when it starts, sending the licence key and the device identifier. The time and the network address are recorded.
While Airside is open it lets our server know from time to time, with your licence key and device identifier and a few figures about the session, such as the version, the airport and how long it has been open. The time and the network address are recorded.
In Voice mode, when the crews do not understand a transmission, Airside also sends us the words the speech recogniser wrote down for it, what went wrong, and the callsigns on your frequency at that moment, so we can make the crews understand more. It goes as text, with the next report; the sound of your voice never leaves your computer, and transmissions the crews understood are not sent. If you would rather we did not keep them, write to us and we will stop and delete them. Nothing else you say or type is sent.
If our server cannot be reached, Airside carries on exactly as before.
| Who | What they receive |
|---|---|
| Paddle | The payment. They are the merchant of record and their own privacy policy applies |
| Resend | E-mail delivery: your address and the message |
| netcup | Hosting, in the European Union |
| Our mailbox, for the e-mail you send us | |
| YouTube (Google) | Only if you press play on a video on this site: your network address and the request for the video. Nothing reaches them if you do not |
Downloads are served from our own server, and problem reports are kept there.
The licence portal sets three cookies: one to keep you signed in, one to prevent request forgery, and one that records only that you are signed in, so this site can offer you your account instead of asking you to sign in again. The third holds a single character. It contains no name, no address and nothing that identifies you, it is deleted when you sign out, and it expires when your sign in does. All three are strictly necessary. No page on this site sets an advertising cookie.
There is one kind of thing you can choose to load: videos. The videos on the home page and in our blog posts are hosted on YouTube, and what the page shows you until you press play is a picture served from our own server. Nothing is requested from YouTube unless you press it. If you do, YouTube receives your network address and whatever their player stores, and Google's privacy policy applies to that. On the home page, closing the player removes it from the page again.
Our web server keeps a record of each page request: the page, the time, the result, the link you arrived from and what your browser says it is. The network address is shortened before it is written, so it points at a region rather than at a household. We keep these for about a month, to count visits and to see abuse, on our legitimate interest in running the site. Nothing is stored on your computer and no third party receives any of it.
The server is in the European Union.
| What | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Sign-in codes | Minutes. They expire and are consumed |
| Problem reports | 60 days, then deleted automatically |
| Session records, and the transmissions the crews did not understand | 90 days, then deleted automatically |
| Shots you send us | Until you withdraw them or close your account |
| Your choice about update e-mails | Until you close your account |
| Your rating of the demo | Until you close your account |
| Site visit records | About a month |
| Account, licence, activations and download records | While the licence exists |
| Order records | As long as tax and accounting law requires |
| Backups of the database | 14 days on our server, and encrypted copies kept off it for up to 12 months |
Wherever you live, you may ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to restrict what we do with it, or object to it. Write to the e-mail address under Contact. We reply within 30 days and there is no charge.
On a deletion request we anonymise the account rather than erase the record that a sale took place, which tax law requires us to keep. Your e-mail address, computer names, network addresses, session records and any problem reports are removed, and the licence stops working, as there is no longer an account for it to belong to.
You may also complain to the data protection authority for the country you live in.
