Can I play as an air traffic controller in MSFS 2024?

Yes, with Airside. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 lets you fly and talk to its controllers; Airside puts you in the controller's seat, working the traffic while the aircraft do what you tell them.

Is Airside a tower simulator?

Yes. It is an air traffic control simulator: clearances, pushback, taxi, runway crossings, line up, take off and landing, at any airport in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

Do I need Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024?

Yes, owned and installed. Airside controls the simulator and does not replace it. Turn off the simulator's own aircraft traffic before your first shift, because Airside places the aircraft itself.

Which airports does it work at?

Every airport the simulator has. The runways, taxiways, taxiway names, gates and stands, and published departure (SID) and arrival (STAR) procedures are all read from the simulator's own data, so a scenery add-on works the same as a stock field.

Can I try it before I buy?

Yes. Every account gets one hour of Airside, counted from the first time Airside opens on your computer. Everything is in it except live traffic, which comes with the full version. Each computer gets one demo, whichever e-mail address is used on it.

Do I have to speak, or can I click?

Either. There are two modes and you pick one at the start of a shift: click, or speech.

Do the crews talk back?

Yes. Every crew has a few words of its own: a remark when it is on the air anyway, an answer when you say something that is not an instruction, and a question when it did not catch you. It never gives or changes an instruction, and in Settings you choose how often they talk, or turn it off.

Can it use real traffic?

Yes, with the full version. Live traffic brings the real airlines, flight numbers and times your airport works that day. Airside can get one new airport a day for you, and twelve a month, and an airport it already has never counts: the first screen lists where free live traffic is ready today.

Do I need to know the phraseology?

No. Four lessons teach the position, and what they teach is generated from the same grammar the product listens to, so a lesson cannot teach a sentence Airside will not understand. The crews also ask for what they need, in phraseology, before you have to guess.

Is it a subscription?

No. You buy Airside once and it stays yours. There is nothing to renew, and updates are included and not charged for.

What does it need to run?

Windows 10 or 11, 64 bit, with 1 GB of RAM and 2.5 GB of disk: a 50 MB setup that downloads 2.2 GB. No additional graphics requirement. An internet connection is needed at start up, and a microphone only if you want to speak.

Can I move it to another PC?

Yes. Write to support from the address on your account and we may be able to put it right, once in any twelve months. That covers a new PC or replaced hardware.
