Airside now plays the engines of your traffic itself. Wherever your camera is, in the tower, beside the runway, walking around an aircraft or following one, you hear every aircraft that is running its engines, the way you would standing there. And Airside's Tower now works runways that cross or meet the way a real tower does.
Airside's own aircraft sound
- Heard from wherever your camera is. The tower cab, the runway view, walking around an aircraft, following a flight, and the simulator's own drone camera too. The sound comes from where each aircraft is, not from inside a cockpit.
- Every aircraft running its engines, not only the nearest few. Parked aircraft with their engines off stay quiet.
- Distance, air and time. Engines fade with distance and the air takes the high notes first, so a jet far away is a rumble. Sound takes its time to reach you: a take-off a mile away is heard seconds after it is seen, and the pitch falls as a jet passes.
- Both ears. The left engine is on the left, the exhaust roars behind, and an aircraft beside you is heard in both ears the way a head hears it.
- Starts, spool-ups and reverse thrust, one engine after another as they start, and the reversers on the landing roll.
- No separate traffic audio add-on is needed. Its own volume is in Settings, Audio, Aircraft sounds, where you can also choose Original for the sounds your FSLTL traffic came with.
The sounds come with every full licence. The launcher fetches and sets them up before Airside opens; if your simulator was already running, restart it once.
Airside's Tower
- Runways that cross or meet are worked as a real tower works them. Two aircraft on them can only meet where the runways meet, so a landing is no longer sent around for traffic on the other runway that would never be in its way, and departures from the other runway keep flowing between the landings.
- Every airliner turns off where an airliner should, not at the earlier exit meant for turboprops.
The aircraft
- Realistic take-off speeds. A319, A220 and 737-700 rotate at 124 to 140 kt, A320 and 737-800 at 130 to 150 with most around 140, A321 and 737-900 at 142 to 158, regional jets at 124 to 146 and turboprops at 98 to 118. Most flights rotate near the middle of their type's range, as most flights weigh near their type's usual.
- Heavy jets no longer slow down as they lift off. A heavy one climbs away faster than it left the ground.
- Steadier on the ground, with far less rising and dropping while taxiing.
- Runways with a displaced threshold: a landing after departures no longer dips into the runway.
San Diego
- Departures from the terminal side taxi via B1 and hold there, and "via B1" is understood.
Open Airside from its launcher and everything arrives in one start.
